Hello folks who know much more about this than I do -

If it's true that these fees do not apply to a community broadcaster like WEFT, could someone estimate what we would have to pay? The reference I was given is

<a href='http://stations.cpb.org/musicrights/' rel="nofollow">http://stations.cpb.org/musicrights/</a>

If these fees do not apply to us, or if we'd be looking at $500/year, let's
look forward to WEFT webcasting!

Thanks,

Craig

It's surprising how the numbers add up. I did a Fermi estimate based on my (undoubtedly flawed) picture WEFT:

$0.0015 fee per song
1,000 streaming listeners
8 songs per hour
16 hours a day of streamable programming
30 days a month

== $5,760/mo in fees

Their minimum fee of $500/mo gives you a paltry 11,000 track plays per day. I figure I listen to about 60 songs a day; $500/mo would buy an audience of under 200.
